I was part of the Middletown Works program for about 2 years. When I entered the program, I was navigating one of the most transitional seasons of my life. I was a single mother rebuilding from scratch, determined to create stability not just for myself, but for my children.
My goals while in the program were clear. I wanted sustainable housing, financial independence, and a path forward that honored my leadership potential. I didn’t just want a job. I wanted transformation. I wanted to move from survival into stability, and eventually into ownership.
Middletown Works helped me in very tangible ways. The program provided structure, accountability, and access to resources that made it possible for me to stabilize my family. They supported me in securing housing, building employment readiness, and creating a long-term vision. More importantly, they treated me like someone with potential. That made all the difference.
Since completing the program, my life has shifted dramatically. I now live in a five-bedroom home with my children, something that once felt out of reach. I’ve moved toward financial independence and continue building sustainable income. I’ve opened the JMAIIA Center, a family-centered micro-school and leadership hub designed to support parents and children through education, healing, and entrepreneurship.
I’ve also stepped into leadership roles in my community through PLTI, 2Gen initiatives, and other parent leadership spaces. Today, I serve as an alumni and mentor for Middletown Works because I believe in being the example of what is possible.
Middletown Works was not just a program for me. It was a bridge. A bridge from crisis to confidence. From instability to leadership. From needing support to becoming support.
I am deeply grateful for the role they played in my journey, and I am proud to represent what success can look like when mothers are given tools, trust, and opportunity.
Thank you.
